Solid Colour
Epoxy Systems

Durable. Seamless. Low-Maintenance.

Solid colour epoxy coatings are one of the most reliable and cost-effective flooring systems for both commercial and residential environments. Known for their clean aesthetic, chemical resistance, and long service life, these coatings deliver performance in high-traffic, heavy-use areas while offering a smooth, uniform appearance.

Solid colour epoxy systems are engineered to perform under demanding conditions. Whether exposed to foot traffic, forklift use, or equipment movement, these coatings remain intact and protective for years.

Depending on the usage level and environmental conditions, floors may require a reapplication of the topcoat approximately every 5–7 years in high-traffic areas, or every 15–20 years in light-duty environments.

Durability

Compared to traditional flooring materials, solid colour epoxy is exceptionally easy to maintain. Routine sweeping and occasional wet mopping are typically sufficient to keep the surface clean. In the event of wear or minor surface damage, a new topcoat can be applied to restore the original appearance without needing full removal or replacement.

Low Maintenance

If the existing concrete is cracked, spalled, or stained, solid colour epoxy can be part of a full-surface rehabilitation process. Prior to coating, damaged slabs can be repaired using specialized resins, allowing the epoxy to form a smooth, uniform finish over the restored surface.

Application Options:

  • Interior or exterior surfaces

  • Concrete or approved plywood substrates

  • Horizontal or vertical surfaces (e.g. coving, curbs, wall bases)

  • Suitable for garages, commercial kitchens, warehouses, mechanical rooms, gear rooms, and more

Versatility

When evaluating life-cycle costs, solid colour epoxy systems consistently outperform traditional flooring such as tile, hardwood, or vinyl plank. While initial pricing is often comparable, epoxy offers additional value:

  • Longer lifespan

  • Lower repair and replacement costs

  • Increased resistance to water and impact

  • Option to re-topcoat instead of replace

In many cases, epoxy flooring will withstand flooding and heavy use scenarios that would damage other materials beyond repair.

Flake system

Decorative vinyl flakes are imbedded into a resin matrix creating a light build orange peel texture finish. using the correct resins, this system can be both interior and exterior, and both smooth and easy to clean and anti slip. This system is best suited for Garages, utility areas, and some exterior spaces.

Quartz System

Epoxy Quartz is broadcast into a resin matrix, or premixed with resin and troweled over the floor creating a highly durable and impact resistant surface. cove base can also be beautifully integrated, creating an easy to clean space. this system is recommended for high wear public use applications over flake systems. such places as swimming pools, prison cells, interior public pedestrian walkways, or mechanical rooms.

Solid Colour System

when simplicity and performance are the top of the list, solid colour is the way to go. a solid colour installation can easily clean up a space, add safety lines, and add anti slip features where desired. solid colour is often selected in manufacturing facilities for its cost effectiveness, and practical use of colours to indicate different areas or safety hazards. custom properties may also be specified in a system to include such things as anti static for a chip manufacturing plant, or specific chemical resistance requirements in a processing or manufacturing plant. we an even get you an specialty epoxy resistant against most harsh acids!

Designer Metallic Epoxy

This designer system is both unique, beautiful, and designed to perform. Irridescent pigments are introduced into the epoxy and applied by a skilled applicator to achieve a vibrant marbled affect. these floors have gained wild popularity since they are both highly durable and a completely unique work of art. A well executed metallic floor, will last for years, and turn heads all the while. A quality system must be applied thick in multiple layers to achieve best results, often sanding in between. The substrate must be carefully prepared and free of defects. A quality metallic epoxy system is not fast, and it is not cheap. while other resin systems like flake or solid colour may have a thickness of 10 mils, a metallic floor is typically over 50! this system is best suited for high end residential or commercial spaces. For that main Leven kitchen area that you want to be the envy of all the neighbours, and have the easiest seamless floor to clean. Or the hot rod enthusiast who needs a floor to match his sweet ride. And of course the man who's worked hard enough give himself the oasis of a man cave he deserves.

Parkade, and pedestrian traffic Systems

Parkade and Pedestrian coatings are often now specified in new buildings. these coatings are a preventative maintenance measure effectively stop the deterioration of concrete surfaces which would typically deteriorate quickly due to weather and salt damages. these systems are designed to be much more flexible, and have much more elongation than other typical coatings and are well suited to freeze thaw cycles, and minor cracking. these coatings mat also serve to completely waterproof a level where there is an interior dry space underneath. anti slip additives are added standard to these systems, and often traffic or safety lines are added at the same time. pedestrian traffic coatings are similar in composition and are well suited for any exterior concrete application such as stairs, balconies, and walkways. a coating applied for these purposes will drastically increase the lifespan, reduce maintenance, and be safer to walk on than typical concrete.

Industrial Urethane Cement

Urethane cement is a urethane combined with a cementitious mix of aggregates to create a thick heavy duty coating meant to stand up to the harshest of environments. and impacts. Different variations may be specified to include thermal shock properties such as in a commercial kitchen, or or processing plant low temperature areas such as a chiller room, , or high impact areas such as a loading dock where regular forklift use would quickly deteriorate regular concrete. urethane cement or urethane slurry floors are considered the most durable coatings on the market are designed to withstand heavy duty use.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • The lifespan of an epoxy floor depends on the type of system used, the level of traffic, and proper maintenance. In residential settings, epoxy coatings can last 15–20 years with routine care. In commercial and industrial environments, where floors endure heavy traffic and equipment use, epoxy typically lasts 5–10 years before requiring reapplication.

Regular maintenance, such as sweeping, mopping, and occasional resealing, helps extend the life of the floor. If wear occurs over time, a new topcoat can be applied to refresh the surface without a full replacement. High-performance epoxy systems with abrasion-resistant topcoats can further increase durability in garages, warehouses, and retail spaces.

  • At executive surfaces we take great care to ensure our clients and in turn their clients stay safe. To do this, coatings and how slip resistance is measured must be properly understood.  a dry sneaker on a basketball court (typically a smooth aliphatic polyurethane) will show immense grip.  now apply motor oil on the same surface and you have a slip and slide.  coatings are non porous, so their slip coefficient is often dependant on external factors such as will it be in contact with water or oil? will it be inside or outside? steps? snow? on an incline?  based on these type of factors, custom sizes of an anti slip  additives can be introduced during the final topcoat process to add the desired level of slip resistance.

  • Concrete floors are susceptible to a wide range of common chemicals and acids. The porous nature of concrete allows harmful chemicals and acidic liquids to be absorbed into the floor which can cause serious and even permanent damage to concrete floors.

Contact us for a recommended concrete flooring solution for your business.

  • The large amount of unfamiliar options can often be an overwhelmnig experience.  At executive surfaces we take great care to get to know our clients, and understand their needs, to advise them to a solution which would suit their needs best.  Many Factors will determine what kind of system we recommend.  what is the condition of the substrate? what is a  manageable budget? what is the intended use of the area? is aesthetic appeal more important or sheer performance properties? or maybe downtime to complete the operation is a large factor. We are always more than happy to provide free in person consultations to discuss the best options for your space.

  • The cost of epoxy flooring depends on factors such as surface preparation, system type, and design complexity. On average, professional epoxy installation ranges from $6 to $15 per square foot, with pricing influenced by:

    • Basic epoxy coatings (solid color, standard finishes) – $6–$10 per sq. ft.

    • Decorative epoxy (flake, metallic, quartz systems) – $8–$12 per sq. ft.

    • High-performance industrial epoxy (chemical-resistant, anti-slip, heavy-duty) – $10–$15 per sq. ft.

Additional costs may apply for concrete repairs, moisture mitigation, or multiple layers for extra durability. While epoxy has a higher upfront cost than tile or vinyl, its long lifespan, low maintenance, and ability to prevent concrete damage make it a cost-effective investment over time. For an accurate quote, it’s best to schedule a consultation based on the project’s size and specific requirements.

  • Although no coating is completely nodour free as is the case with wall paints; the majority of resins we use are very low odour and definitely "Low" or "No" VOC's. this means below any designated harmful threshold.  some of our garage coatings do exhibit an odour if applied in an enclosed space (garage door closed). further, if a specialty coating is specified which has any harmful vapours or associated warning labels, our clients are notified and appropriate precautions are taken to the area prior to application.

for all general coating purposes,  it is recommended for anyone with chemical sensitivities, or expecting mothers to use good judgement, and not be near the off gassing area for the first 1-3 days without appropriate ventilation.   manufacturers recommend the same precautions to anyone if they are applying regular acrylic wall paint.

  • YES! Absolutely.  But definitely by a professional.  Not all substrates are suitable candidates, and wood floors have different expansion and movement properties than a concrete installation.  depending on the system selected to go down, a subfloor may be required ensure a quality installation, an equivalent reinforcement fabric, or a flexible self leveller rated for on wood applications. For over plywood applications we also choose a specialty product set that has more flexibility and elongation properties than typical epoxy which is better suited for the movement of wood.

  • YES! Absolutely.  but it must be done correctly.  The correct procedures and product set must be adhered to.
